This 1970s Rushton-style plush doll with a vinyl face arrived in heavily worn condition. Her bright green plush body showed damage from age and handling, while the original inner stuffing had deteriorated. Several areas of the plush structure needed careful attention in order to restore the doll’s shape and stability.

My goal is to work meticulously and preserve as much of her original, authentic charm as possible.

The restoration focused on preserving the original materials and character of the doll wherever possible. The original green plush body was carefully restored and reinforced in areas where the fabric and inner structure had deteriorated. Damaged sections were stabilized to preserve the doll’s original construction and characteristic silhouette.

The vinyl face and hands were gently cleaned to remove surface dirt while retaining the original features. A light cosmetic refresh was then carried out to revive the doll’s expression without changing her vintage character.

The doll’s small bottle was retained as part of the original presentation, while the bright green plush body, white trim, vinyl face, and outstretched hands were kept true to the original design. The goal was not to make her look newly manufactured, but to return structure, cleanliness, and balance to a well-loved vintage toy.

The result is a stable, refreshed, and display-ready 1970s plush doll. Her distinctive Rushton-style character remains intact, with the original green plush body carefully repaired, the vinyl parts cleaned, and her facial expression gently renewed.
